Functions of KDL

FUNCTIONS

            Perpustakaan Awam Kluang is the one of the biggest public library in Kluang. They are responsible to provide information materials especially books. The main functions of Perpustakaan Awam Kluang is to serve users with a collections of books and to provide information in many fields in order to instilled the practice of reading and knowledge, culture development among the Kluang’s Municipal Council.

All digital libraries has its own functions to make the existence of the digital library become more useful and beneficial especially to its frequent users. The more the functions, the more users will be attracted to use the digital library services.

These are the functions that should be add to the Perpustakaan Awam Kluang :

1.    To provide materials in different forms and up to date.

One of the functions of our digital library is to provide users with different forms of information which is information in digital form. Our digital library also provide digital information in different formats. Our digital collections also are up to date to so that users can retrieve the latest collections and information.

2.    To serve users with digital collections.

This is the main function of our digital library which is serve users with our digital collections such as e-books, e-journal, e-magazines, multimedia materials and many more. Users can retrieve information in digital forms which is a form of information that can easily be accessed by users.

3.    To provide a large amounts of access of information to users.

Our digital library is providing a large amount of information in digital forms to our users. There are various fields of subjects provided by our digital library. All these information can be retrieved by users wherever they are and whenever they need it.

4.    To provide access to primary information sources.

Our digital library provided access to primary information sources to users. This is to make user become more easily to retrieve information from many sources especially the primary sources.

5.    To support multimedia content along with text.

Our digital library is design to support multimedia content. Multimedia includes a combination of texts, audio, still images, animation, video and also interactive content forms. It will be more interactive for the users to uses our digital library because our digital library support multimedia content.

6.    To provide user with user-friendly interface.

Our digital library is created with user a user-friendly interface. This is to make our users become easier to use our digital library. With the user-friendly interface of our digital library, users will be more attracted to use our digital library because it will make them easier to navigate our digital library, they will become more fun to uses our library and they also can search and retrieve information more easily.

7.    To provide links for navigation.

One of the functions of our digital library is to provide links for navigation for the users. Our digital libraries provide links to other sources of information such as website and blog. With this function, users can navigate to other source of information in order to search more information that they want.

8.    To provide digital events.

Our library will provided digital events such as online books review. This is to increase user interest to visit our digital library. By this way, users can gather as much information about books in the library collections.

About Perpustakaan Awam Kluang

Perpustakaan Awam Kluang building is located in central Kluang’s goverment offices over an area at 139’ x 60’ square. This library was completed on 12 September 1973 with an expenditure of RM 187,000 contributed by the Johor government and donation of Lion’s Club, Kluang. Placement of the foundation stone construction has commited by Johor’s former minister, Tan Sri Dato Haji Othman Bin Saat on 1969. Undertaken in collaboration with local government with the coorperation of Lion’s Club, Kluang. This library was opened to the public on 1978 where only reading and reference services are allowed because lack of worker and reading material at the beginning.

To fulfill users need in information fields, Perpustakaan Awam Kluang should be upgraded to become a digital library. Digital collections should be added in their collections and the uses of IT should be adapted in the library.

This library nearby Majlis Pembangunan Kluang, between pejabat Penerangan Kluang at Johor Bahru.

Vision, Mission, Motto

VISION

·         Become the world-class digital Library. To become the world-class digital library we must make the digital library must be creative and unit from another digital library such as make 12 hour reading area or make twenty-four hour online digital library. To achieve the out digital Library vision we must have the discipline to make the digital Library become the world-class digital Library.

·         Toward making the Kluang’s Public Library as being centre national information of the city staff and the organization centre.

·         Our digital Library mission is committed to be an advanced digital library that connects the information network with user or client for fulfilling the requirements of learning, teaching and research. To become an advanced digital library our digital library will always upgrade our collections and services every year and also our digital library will make reply feedback to our user so that we can known what weakness that we have. And we will improve our weakness so that we can fulfill the requirement of learning, teaching and research process.
